WrestleGateshead4 is coming...

August 29, 2010

Heading into WrestleGateshead4, we have cause to look back on WrestleGateshead3 with mixed emotions.

For Kitty Morgan we saw first joy, as she finally defeated the Masked Grappler followed by pain as she was destroyed by Emma May’s regular ‘client’ Assassin. For those who don’t know him, Assassin is THE top star in IWF history, a multi-time champion and a devastating presence. It seems impossible that Kitty can defeat him, yet it is to her credit that she wants to try.

For Big Kris, we saw satisfaction at a job well done but also an appreciation that the veteran Mark Anthony took him almost to the limit. Kris is still looking unstoppable though...What more does Stevie Lafferty have up his sleeve? Well, at WG4, he gets a chance to manage a 5 man team against a 5 man team of Big Kris’s choosing. The teams have been named, you will find them out later in this blog post...

For KATSU, we saw great hunger, first in coming close to defeating Will Powers to become WG champion followed by a hunger for revenge when it was revealed that Brett Eagle returns to WG at WG4.

For Will Powers, pride, and rightly so at remaining Champion. It is said, though, that pride often comes before a fall. The Saint is next in line, the man who 'Hi 5' beat to become champion. Many considered that result an upset. Powers still has much to prove.

For Leon Kingdom, did we see humility? Impressive in his first ever matches, he lost to much more experienced opponents in Pauly C and Robbie Ryder, following the Ryder match he was gracious enough to raise the ‘Rank Outsider’s’ hand in victory. At WG4, his learning curve continues as he faces 3 opponents (Yet to be announced) in a four way.

For Jack Flash, we saw relief and disappointment, relief that this talented youngster, after a long wait, finally earned his debut match and disappointment that he was taught a lesson by Tom Anderson. Flash is a great athlete, yet perhaps he is destined to not live up to that potential. It is up to him...

For The Minto Brothers and Redback Squared, we saw determaination to show that they are WG’s top tag team. Nothing has been settled tough...They draw their series 1-1.

So, on September ?? at WrestleGateshead 4 we will see...

WrestleGateshead2 aftermath...

July 25, 2010
Congratulations to WIll Powers on becoming the first ever WrestleGateshead Champion!

A few other thoughts on last nigh.

Great to see Hot Ed back, he looked great after 6 years away from the ring, good news is, it seems like this return to wrestling may be permanent.

Also great to open the show with a tag team match courtesy of our friends from 3CW - The relationship between them and IWF goes back a long way, long may it continue.

It will be interesting to see who Stevie Lafferty thinks can beat B...

I have received news that, due to the attack by Brett Eagle at WrestleGateshead1, KATSU will be unable to appear on July 24th.

Therefore:
The match between The Saint and Will Powers that was scheduled for the semi-finals of the WrestleGateshead title tournament will now be for the WrestleGateshead Championship.  Good luck to both men.

KATSU will challenge the winner in the main event of WrestleGateshead3 in August.

Brett Eagle will be suspended from WrestleGateshead2 and will not be allowed to ch...

June 20, 2010
Great show last night, results are up in the results section, this is where we ruminate on a few of the news stories coming out of the night.

A few questions...

The Saint and Tom Anderson are calling themselves the Trinity, this suggests a third member, but who?

Stevie Lafferty suffered an injury last night, how serious was it?  He's already asked to appear at WrestleGateshead2 but will he be able to wrestle?

Hot Ed is returning for his first match since 2004, he was one of the most popular and s...

A little bit of admin...

Unfortunately, Reece Jordan, Kitty Morgan and Danielle Fierce will not be at WrestleGateshead1, they will, however, all debut at WrestleGateshead2 in July.  Reece has been replaced by Stevie Lafferty in his match.

Former IWF star MARK VAN ALPEN returns for his first match (Other than last years Northern Rumble) in IWF or WrestleGateshead since 2002.  He has let it be known that he will now wrestle under the name 'Mark Anthony' and that he is hoping to stick around...

WrestleGateshead

May 7, 2010
Gateshead has always held a special place in the hearts of the Independent Wrestling Federation.

Between 2004 and 2006, we made our home at St. Joseph's Hall, the scene of some legendary moments.  Who can forget the incredible matches between Bobby Jackson & Hot Ed and Cameron Knite & Assassin at the first ever Tournament of Faith or Bobby Jackson's emotional victory in the 2nd Tournament?

St. Joseph's Hall saw Jimmy Blade and Youngsta win IWF Championships, saw PAC and Harry Pain explode thro...
